The People Squeaky Meets

In the quiet neighborhood of Westplaza, Squeaky the duck lives. Her crescent atop her head stops traffic along State Line Road. Drivers can’t believe they are seeing a duck. My husband says to me, “we are causing a traffic jam.”

 It’s true. I take squeaky for a walk and she attracts a lot of attention. People want to know, “if she is a duck?” They ask, “what is her name?” And they question how I style her hair? 

I respond, she is a duck. Her name is squeaky. And the crown of feathers on top of her head is a natural. She is a mixed breed called a crescent duck or Indian runner duck.
